Unbeknownst to us, the weekend that we just happen to be traveling to Columbus from San Antonio, and passing right through Louisiana nevertheless, was Mardi Gras weekend. We were stopped at a dead still on the interstate for hours not moving! So after trying to keep Isabel entertained and Ian fed and happy we decided to try a detour. The detour took us further in to traffic which had us at another dead still. I turned us around, and headed back. I was literally seething inside when I saw that traffic had picked back up on the interstate. So instead of driving on through we decided to stop at the next town.
We stayed at a decent place called Hollywood Casino. The next morning we decided to treat ourselves to a few minutes of warm sand and cool ocean spray at the beach only minutes away.
We kept thinking how Chico would have loved to run around the beach here. It was a fresh breather, but a sad moment of reflection at the same time.
It's always a good idea to find any beach close by... always makes me feel better!

ReplyDeleteShe did, already? She looks so adorable. What a beautiful beach. You know, even though I was born in New Orleans, I've never really been there. Now, it must be quite different.
