Kids Start Theatre Camp Day 2

I've signed the kids up for Theatre Camp, downtown Sumner.  Both Izzie and Ian will be pirates in the upcoming Peter Pan Jr. Musical.  I'm very excited for them and hope it will be a great learning experience for them.

Which One? & Musubi!

The 5k I ran a little while ago has given me a new goal, or motivation to keep in mind.  It's to beat my timing score at the next 5k.  So when I saw the Target ad that had 30% off lap timer sport watches I shouted "Yes!".  Perfect timing, yea?  Only problem is the colors they came in are all so darn cute, and I couldn't decide.  So why not take a consensus?  I narrowed it down to these two.

Yesterday morning had me shaking my head and wondering at the odd choice of breakfast I was making for my son at his request.  Musubi.  My son is a very picky eater.  Its hard to get him to eat the same meal as the rest of the family, but every once in a while he'll pick something that just throws me for a loop.  Musubi!  The fact that I even know how to make it is a testament to how long we've been here on Oahu, and how local we are becoming, yea?  Ono Musubi.
It starts with Spam.  Yes, that's right.  Spam.  I always keep my pantry stock with at least two cans now.
For the musubi I slice and grill them for bit.

I lay down a piece of saran wrap, then two pieces of seaweed, followed by my Musubi Maker, rice, furikake seasoning and the delectable spam.

Another local habit.  I actually go to Costco to buy these in bulk because we go through them so fast.  Not just for Musubi's but as snacks all on their own.  We just rip open a package and eat them as is.

Once I add the ingredients together, I wrap them tight and divvy them out to my hungry family.

He would eat musubi's every day if I let him.  He loves them so much.

My 1st 5k

4:15am - woke up, wide awake.  Tried to go back to sleep but couldn't.  Too nervous and excited.  Oh, well.  Might as well head out.
4:45am - headed out with my water bottle, oatmeal with raisin, camera, and my runner's number pinned to my Stroller Strides Moms Rock tank.  I am on my way to the Jamba Juice Banana Man 5k run.  My first ever of any such event.
5:10am - arrived at the Ala Moan Beach Park and realized I am one of the first runners here!  I don't meet with my Stroller Stride Moms for another hour.  I ended up walking around and enjoying the way the full moon set in the ocean and the sun rise up.
I have a horrible snap and shoot camera.  It didn't do what I wanted, because the actual view was stunning. You could see the full moon just hanging over the ocean and illuminating the palm trees and beach.  Very beautiful, it was.
6:15am - I finally spy my girls walking over, and we huddle in a group till everyone shows up.  I already have my timer strapped on my ankle.  As we are waiting for others to show up it starts to sprinkle off and on, and the results was a full rainbow over our heads.  Fantastic start!
The rainbow was too big to take as a whole!

Lindsey, Trish, Stacey, Me and Megan.  Taken right before we head over to the starter's line.
6:40am - We all head over to the starter's line to wait for the go at 7:00am.  I'm now starting to wish I had taken pictures with the guys dressed up as bananas!  These Banana guys would run at the front of the race, and if you caught up to them and passed them at the finish line you win free Jamba Juices for a year.  That will be my goal for next year!

So nervous and excited by this time.  I kept thinking "Start already!!"
7:04am - We are still waiting to start......
7:08am - And we are off!  I try to keep pace with one of the girls who zooms off (Stacey is super fast), but being real sick for a couple weeks and not working out because of it really slowed me down.  But!...I am proud to say I stayed at a decent pace and was able to finish just under 30 mins.
7:37am - Whoo Hoo!!  Finished my first 5k!

For all my sweat and hard work I got a free minuscule Jamba Juice and half a banana.  I would totally do this again in a heart beat.  I had a lot of fun.  I definitely will be better prepared next time though.

More of Easter, courtesy of Target

I love Target.  Huge fan.  From the Beatles song in their commercial, to the awesome clothes that I can find that are garmet worthy.  So of course, during one of my many shopping excursions to Target, I found these adorable Egg Kits for the kids.  They worked on these for hours, and loved every minute of it.  I really hope theses will be available again next year.

Fixed the video below.

I am not savvy on the computer.  Its just not my thing.  For the life of me I couldn't figure out where the embedded code was on the YouTube videos.  So I tried downloading the video again and all that did was make a "duplicate" that wouldn't work.  Finally figured it out, and it would "behoove" (Shaun and I have an on going debate on how to use this word) you to watch the video now that it works.

Isabel's New Smile

This is a video of Shaun pulling out Isabel's First Tooth!  I wish I wrote down the exact date, but I do know that it was in February.
She woke up so excited when you opened up her tooth pouch and saw what the "tooth fairy" gave her.  Shaun and I both agreed that the first tooth warranted an actual silver dollar.  My plan was to give her a silver dollar for each tooth she lost, but can you believe they don't make them anymore!  You have to buy them on eBay or specialty coin stores.  Luckily Shaun had a whole bunch in his collection from somewhere, I can't remember where, that we were able to give her.
Right before bed she got out her paper and pencil and started writing.  I was curious what she was doing, and she said she wanted to write the tooth fairy a note.
this was what I wrote back to her in response.

Since the first tooth as of the last week in April Izzy has lost a total of 4 teeth!

The top two came out just fine.  It was the bottom two that had us and her dentist concerned.  Her adult teeth had popped through the gum BEHIND her baby teeth.  The Right side came loos and popped out no problem, but the Left side was stubborn.  She had to constantly wriggle and wriggle that baby till it became loose enough for us to pop out.  The first tooth she was all excited, but towards the fourth one she was miserable.  It was just very painful for her when she would try to eat her food.  She had to eat, sticking the food in sideways in order to tear off pieces.  It was the worst for her right when the tooth were the loosest and every bite was painful.  Once we pulled them out, all was fine.

Hawaii Easter

We had a wonderful Easter Egg activity with quite a few families from the ward, considering it wasn't an announced Ward Activity and more something that was a last minute "hey, lets get together" kind of thing.
the kids are playing Easter Pictionary while the moms are hiding the eggs in the rest of the building.

i followed Ian around while he collected his eggs.

these are two of my best friends here on Oahu.  Charice Wallace and Nedra Kapaua.  They started this impromptu egg hunt that turned into something much bigger than originally planned.

Ian loves all things that have feathers.  Loves chicks, chickens, roosters, any bird.  He is pretending he is a chicken sitting on her eggs.

This is Isabel's best friend Hailey, who is my friend's daughter.

After the egg hunt we, of course dyed eggs.

Then there was a three legged race for the finale.

This is the morning of, before our we left for church.  Unfortunately we spent Easter Morn in the ER for Shaun.  He leaned back wrong and aggravated his neck injury from the motorcycle accident 3 years ago.  He couldn't move due to the amount of pain he was in.  So I had the kids find their Easter basket before we took off, and also had a talk about why we really celebrate Easter.
